Hifiman he-400i Impressions and Discussion
FWIW I sold my LCD-2s (2nd gen I think?) and picked up a pair of 400i's. I can't say I miss 'em. They hurt my head from lack of padding and the sound signature really didn't grow on me. I think my Hifiman EF2 amp was holding them back as well and I wasn't in a position to drop the necessary...- fullyreclined

USB Cable popularity check
I went through a few USB cables before settling on the Audio Sensibility Statement which is OCC silver. Other USB cables that I own: Belkin gold, Wireworld Ultraviolet and the Starlight. I had a chance to audition the Statement for a month and it slayed them all so couldn't say no to keeping it.- fullyreclined

Pictures of Your *Mid-Fi* Portable Rig ($200 - $600)
My current rig that retails for over $600 but my cost was less since the DX50 was used and Hifiman had the 400i on a promo for $299 last year.- fullyreclined

Reply to review by 'fullyreclined' on item 'iFi iUSB Power'
Thanks for this review. After reading a bunch of reviews I bought this little bugger on the weekend. I was bummed at first since I too noticed a volume decrease and a far more veiled sound. However, I let it burn in for about 2 hrs and did some close A/B comparisons with/without and the...- fullyreclined

Toslink Cables..??
Last December I bought a $109 Lifatec Silflex Toslink/Miniplug and this is what it looks like today: The jacket, made of very light material, wasn't crimped on tight enough nor was there enough strain relief. This was lightly used for my main audio rig in my living room. I'm... -

Anyone Into Country?
Quote: KJ - check out Gillian Welch's debut "Revival" -- amazing album and what a voice! I got into alt-country in the late 90's and were so many good bands especially on Bloodshot Records like The Old 97s, Robbie Fulks, and Neko Case. 2 desert island CDs IMHO: Whiskeytown's...- fullyreclined

Smashing Pumpkins - Gish and Siamese Dream 2011 remasters
Man, it's about time. I remember ripping Mellon Collie onto my Macbook and listening to it on my "good" system and being pretty disappointed. It sounds not only quiet but the dynamics are flat and there is little instrument separation making it sound 2D and somewhat muddy. According to...- fullyreclined
