What version of USB cables are they and which connectors will they be set up with?   Are they USB-IF compliant?  Specifically did they pass the capacitance tests and withholding voltage tests without issue?   Did the withholding voltage test cause any significant change in BERT?

No sooner did I make the above post than the left ear started cutting out again.   Disconnected and applied slight pressure to the pin itself, and all is well.   Add me to the list of those who have solved the issue with pin-tweak method!
