AFAIK the d1001's are not bass heavy.

they are ON ear, unless you have seriously tiny ears. However the cushioning is plush enough and the dual-headband helps distribute the clamping force and weight of the headphone evenly enough that It shouldn't bother you, If anything were to bother you about the HD-25 it'd be the clamping...
