    Sennheiser x Massdrop HD6XX Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

Just got mine in the mail. S/N 00357. :) Really enjoying them so far, out of my Lyr 2 (stock 6BZ7 tubes). They sound better than my Philips X2, imo. The bass is much tighter and less distracting, but it's definitely still emphasized and capable of producing a nice rumble when the music calls...

    Amp for HE-560

Yes, that's it. Thank you, much appreciated.

    Amp for HE-560

Thanks guys. I'll look into both of these.

    Amp for HE-560

Is that much more powerful than the Cypher Labs Theorem? I know the two are frequently compared. I bought the Theorem a few weeks ago, hoping it would be more powerful than the E9, but it's about the same. I'll probably be reselling it pretty soon (though it sounds amazing with my more sensitive...

    Amp for HE-560

I'm looking for an amp that can easily drive my Hifiman HE-560, because my FiiO E9 just doesn't really cut it. At maximum volume on high gain, it is just beginning to reach my normal listening level, and honestly sometimes I just want to listen to my music louder than that. My criteria: -...

Songs that make your headphone WOOOOOW!!!

There's nothing inherently particularly inaccurate about compressed audio. The loss of actual sound quality in AAC (or even MP3) files is very, very minute (yes, I know I'm opening up a can of worms here, and I'm aware that there are some people here who believe that the sound of a bobby pin...

Songs that make your headphone WOOOOOW!!!

The difference in quality between $50 headphones and $800 headphones is faaaaaar greater than the difference made by switching from decent compression to lossless. I would much rather listen to 126kbps AAC with my Hifiman HE-560, than 24-bit/192kHz on my old Koss PRO DJ-100...

Rank the Headphones that You Own.

    1) Hifiman HE-560 2) Philips Fidelio X2 3) Sennheiser HD 598SE 4) PSB M4U2 5) Shure SRH-840 6) Koss PRO DJ-100 7) Audio-Technica ATH-M50     My list has changed a bit, in a short period of time. The alterations: 1) Now that I have spent some time with the HE-560, the Philips X2's...

Rank the Headphones that You Own.

    1) Philips Fidelio X2 - Jack of all trades, master of... the vast majority actually, in my opinion. Maybe just a tad too dark for some of my music. 2) Shure SRH840 - My first pair of "good" headphones. 4 years later, I still love them. Like the X2, they are very well suited for just about every...

New iPod user, headphones not loud enough, advice?

I don't know of any portable amp that will drive 600ohm headphones perfectly; 600ohm headphones aren't really meant to be portable cans. That being said, I know that there are Head-Fi'ers who do use the E11 with their 600ohm Beyers. The only other portable amp I can think of that I have heard of...

Will using V moda boom mic + hd 589 affect sound quality?

Well again, the only time I have experienced that issue is when plugging it into the FiiO E9. It works fine out of my PS4 controller, phone, laptop, etc. I'm also not sure if other amps or DACs would have the same issue. What are you using the mic for? If you are plugging it into a game console...

    Closed back headphones around $300

I already own the Audio Technica ATH-M50. I've had them for a couple years, and they aren't bad by any means, but I feel that they're very overrated headphones. They're also in a much lower price/quality bracket than what I'm looking for.

Will using V moda boom mic + hd 589 affect sound quality?

I haven't noticed any difference with the Vmoda BoomPro vs stock cable on my Philips Fidelio X2. One thing to note, though, is that I have noticed that the BoomPro causes issues when using my FiiO E9. In my very limited knowledge, I believe that this is just because the output on the E9 is not...

    Closed back headphones around $300

Yeah, I just wish there were a more detailed and balanced version of the M-100. Though, since I won't be listening to these very much on my home setup, I suppose they don't need to be at the same level as my Philips X2, anyway. And yeah, the AKG 54X/55X series are actually what I had in mind...

New iPod user, headphones not loud enough, advice?

You won't find any average consumer-grade portable media player that will drive 600ohm headphones. Headphones made to be used with iPods and other MP3 players are usually more along the lines of 20-50ohms. Buy yourself a FiiO E11, or something comparable.
