Mr. Speakers Mad Dog 3.0 - 3.2 Amp Pairing Recommendation/Discussion Thread

In my email conversation with Dan he suggested the dragonfly as a good option for under $200. Its USB though so no good for portable. But if Dan suggested it then I'm sure it will drive the dogs to good volume, it's got some great reviews too if you look around. Also just to clarify he...

Mr. Speakers Mad Dog 3.0 - 3.2 Amp Pairing Recommendation/Discussion Thread

Just got my E12! It's absolutely perfect. Plenty of power to get me up to volume and great bass when I want it, but bright and clear when I need it. Sound stage could be bigger, but no amp does everything and for $129, this unit packs a punch.

Mr. Speakers Mad Dog 3.0 - 3.2 Amp Pairing Recommendation/Discussion Thread

I'm pretty sure Dan would tell you that the E11 doesn't have enough power to drive the Mad dogs, but I'm sure it would give them a little volume boots. Dan mentioned earlier in this thread that E12 is one FiiO that drives the Mad dogs. What's your source?

Mr. Speakers Mad Dog 3.0 - 3.2 Amp Pairing Recommendation/Discussion Thread

I'm using a 7th gen ipod nano, which I really want to replace with a classic because I've heard good things about the Wolfson DAC it comes with + music storage, but I'd really love to get a device that supports FLAC files, so we'll just have to wait and see what my research uncovers. Then my...

Thanks for the input Spy! My E12 is on the way. Potability is something I'm looking for, so I decided to go that way.

Mr. Speakers Mad Dog 3.0 - 3.2 Amp Pairing Recommendation/Discussion Thread

Well I just emailed Dan through his website asking if the JDS C5 or the Leckerton UHA-4 would be a better portable amp for the Mad Dogs. He said the C5 didn't provide enough power and that he hadn't heard the Lacekrton. Then he suggested I go with the Audioquest Dragonfly if I'm laptop based...

Mr. Speakers Mad Dog 3.0 - 3.2 Amp Pairing Recommendation/Discussion Thread

I think someone in this thread talked about the D12 somwhere, that and the Boa are good choices, but the PB2 has been in the spotlight more, as far as ibasso goes. You should go back and just skim this whole thread. Lot's of good opinions! Again, I have zero first hand experience so if someone...

Mr. Speakers Mad Dog 3.0 - 3.2 Amp Pairing Recommendation/Discussion Thread

That's a good analogy, but what exactly does it do to the quality of the file? It's easy to say it'll be "better" but what are the kinds of differences you can expect in a DAC like the E17 versus say, a Burlson Conductor? Widen the soundstage? Reduce impedance? Brighten highs? Punch up the bass...

Seconding KLJ1992, does anyone know if the D-zero pairs well? Especially compared to the E12?

Mr. Speakers Mad Dog 3.0 - 3.2 Amp Pairing Recommendation/Discussion Thread

Has anyone heard the Mad Dogs with the iBasso D-Zero? And/Or have any insight into how they might pair?   I just ordered my MDs a couple days ago and am debating between the iBasso D-Zero and the FiiO E12...

    VA / MD / DC meet - Saturday, January 18, 2014

Well, it looks like I wont have the Mad Dogs in time for the meet. All I'll have are my HD 555's unfortunately. I'll bring my macbook too, for added tunes.

    VA / MD / DC meet - Saturday, January 18, 2014

I'm hoping my Mad Dogs will be in before the meet! I hope to test them out with some portable amp/DAC's. Though if I do get them before the meet they will not be fully burned in.

    V-Moda LP2 Review

I listen mostly to Rock (mostly classic/prog: Rush, Genesis, Led Zeppelin yada yada), but also lots of House, Dance, Hip-hop and other bassy genre's. I would like them to work well with most genre's though (acoustic guitars, folk, classical piano/strings, big band, horns, ect.). These would be...
