Is it better to turn off amps every time after use or leaving it always on?
I have extensively researched the topic today. The most experienced opinions say yes, it's better to leave the amp on all the time. The wear from inrush current when turning it on once per day outweighs the wear from leaving the amp on continuously. This is valid for Solid-State amps only. The...- desik

New Audio-gd DAC-19 [10th Anniversary Edition]
I'm surprised to hear all the issue with DAC-19 firmware versions. I have the most basic DAC-19DI, that costed $400 even when it was released, and doesn't support firmware upgrades. Hooked with DI-2014. It sound wonderful. Bass is bloomy and not particularly defined in the low-end, but this is a...- desik

New Audio-gd DAC-19 [10th Anniversary Edition]
Well, Schiit DAC's are the default choice nowadays, but there is a surprising lack of comparisons between AGD and Schiit stuff. It happens that I own a Gumby (latest version, A2 board) and a DAC-19 DI version (the most basic one, no DSP). Might do a comprehensive comparison one day if I'll have...- desik

The power specification of this amp is scam. If RMS is 7 V, then power into 32 Ohm is 7 x 7 / 32 = 1.53 W. How did they get 3.6 W? This could be an explanation.- desik

Holo Audio Spring R2R DAC
Very good observation. Offtopic, I also had Omni and was disappointed. Prefer TH-X00 with a well matched amp. Emu Teak should sound even better, no doubt. But Omni was launched before the two, so this explains. Also LCD-2 that was always technically superior suffers from other issues. Audio...- desik

Holo Audio Spring R2R DAC
Thanks for impressions. a few clarifications: 1. Spring level what? 2. Spring was run through NOS or OS? 3. When you added SU-1, I assume both were run through SU-1. Did Ares + SU-1 improve?- desik
