iPhone 8: Better sound quality vs iPhone 7 or 6!?
Using the iPhone exclusively as a source, via USB, in the same system with the same files, have anyone compared a recent iPhone with an older one? I use a 5s in the car via USB and now have tried an 8 in the same configuration and I think I heard a big improvement in sound quality, both using...- chicostein

Meier Audio StageDAC
When using the variable outputs with a power amplifier for speakers, should I use the HIGH or LOW gain position? In my case it would be a Rotel RB 1070 powering a pair of B&W 704 floor standing speakers. A related question: If used with an entry-level integraded amp, such as NAD C325 BEE...- chicostein

Sennheiser HD800 Appreciation Thread
purrin, I do not mean the driver, which is duly covered. It is the wider metallic part around it, which is more sparsely protected by black plastic. It is not hard to touch it by accident I think...- chicostein

Sennheiser HD800 Appreciation Thread
Hello, just joined the club. My S/N is in the 13k range. Still was not able to listen to it yet. I have one worry: I accidentally touched that 'intermediary' metallic ring (in the outer part) and notice it easily bends back and forth... Ouch. Will avoid in the future, but can this damage the...- chicostein

Selecting interconnects for Meier system
Considering the Concerto/Stagedac/T1 setup, should the Kimber Hero RCAs (or DiMarzio RCAs) provide significant improvement over the Meier Audio RCA-to-RCA interconnects (http://www.meier-audio.homepage.t-online.de/cables.htm)? -
Where to buy HD800/T1 in Germany?
I will mostly in Frankfurt, Berlin, Dusseldorf I guess. Does MediaMarkt sell HD800 and suchs? A couple years ago the best I could find there was the HD595 and AKG601...- chicostein

CanJam@RMAF 2011 Listening Impressions Thread
On page 21 or so there is a nice discussion of this recent trend of "exorbitant" prices for recent high-end gear. When people compare the price of an older generation of $350 high-end headphones with the current one at $1500, there is no mention of all the inflation in the 10/15 years between...- chicostein

Where to buy HD800/T1 in Germany?
Hi there, I will be in Germany at the end of the month and planning to buy an HD800 and/or a T1 with the new headband. Since I will be moving around, I do not want to buy online, and I know that these high-end models are not available in most regular electronics stores/chains. I also want to...- chicostein

Headphones to compliment Nuforce HDP
Does anyone knows an inexpensive integrated DAC/Amp to suggest for a friend who just bought (my) AKG K702? He is just starting in this hobby and is not eager to buy, match and setup separate components, so it would be far easier for me to recommend a single purchase. I was thinking about the...- chicostein

Mac OS X Music Players - alternatives to iTunes
Hello, I read a dozen of the earliest and latest pages on the thread, but I still not sure which program try first for best SQ? BTW, I have an old system: 2006 black MacBook, very first gen (Core Duo "1"), stuck with Snow Leopard with just 2GB of RAM)- chicostein
