I own a pair of Hifiman HE-500 headphones and I was curious if there are any closed back cans that would complement them? I have grown very accustomed to the sound of the 500's and I like them greatly so I have been wondering about a closed back headphone to add to my collection. 

Has anyone listened to the E07K and E09K with the HE - 500's? 

Has anyone checked out the schiit mangi and modi for use with the HE-500?

Well the Ath-M50's are pretty balanced they are slightly bass heavy. I had the limited edition ones and liked them for an all around use. But for your genres I think you would like them the bass is there buts its not to over powering. 

What kind of music does he like to listen to and are you only looking for closed back headphones?

What if i were to increase my limit to $300 and get like a 5.1 digital receiver and run them through that would it be more practical and could i achieve somewhat similar performance then just an amp?

Im not exactly sure but what would i need to hook up the a-100 to my headphones and would be your best opinion for an adapter. 

Im not looking to blast my HE-500's to an absurd level i usually listen to them at lower levels when I'm listening for a longer period of time. But i want to send more power to them to gain a wider soundstage then I'm getting on the E11. And from what i was able to audition once through a high...

Thanks wje for your input, I am planning on upgrading both my amp and source to get more out of the HE-500. The Fiio drives it ok for right now until i can obtain the money i want to upgrade everything. i have heard the 500's out of my buddies sound system and that was able to throw enough power...

Now because thats out of the way I'm now looking for an amp for the HE-500. And that being a college student my budget is roughly $300 I have been looking at the schiit asgard but i wanted to see if anybody in the head-fi community could give me some insight on anything else.  

i was able to listen to the LCD-2's and i couldn't believe how impressive they were 

well no one seemed to want to give me advice so i nixed all three and got the HIFIMan HE 500 and that seemed to be the right choice
