I did a search in FS for apogee mini dac and found very old post. I did the ebay and google fs and current prices were all over the place. Can you guys give me reasonable suggestions on current price for used like new apogee mini-dac? This would be the model befor USB. Thanks!

Maybe not so great to some today due to technical reasons also. Back then you had to experiment and jump through hoops to get to what they did. Today you can just cut, paste and digitally manipulate everything. Just a thought.

Since the intended quality is unfortunately the way it is, thats why i say just be the consumer complaining that the sound is distorted so the disk must be bad. If you argue it has been compressed and clipped, well that was done on purpose so you won't win that arguement trying to return it...

I think this would be another good way to help rid the loudness crap. If it is extremely loud and clipped, return it saying the sound is distorted and so the CD is bad or defective.

Yup. Could not be happier with the connections available. No need to unplug or move anything. Extreme fed by xlr to rca. my amp and speakers fed by the mini to rca and of course i can plug phones direct to the Apogee and that also sounds awesome.
