I'm quite the overly particular nut. I got rid of the MDs because the leather cups were very slightly symmetrical and I couldn't stand it aesthetically. However sound wise, I'm a HD600, O2+ODAC kinda guy. I just preferred the open-ness and the extensions of the mids, as well the overall clarity...

Hi guys, my current setup is an Essence STX and a HD600. I'm currently in need of a closed pair of headphones and I'm wondering how the MDs compare to the HD600. I listen to mostly jazz and rock. Other suggestions for headphones are definitely welcome too ;)

wow.. first of all. thanks alot for the replies. This is a seriously helpful site. I have to say that I bit the bullet and picked up the hd598s after school yesterday. The only reason I didn't order the Mad Dogs would be that shipping tax and costs from the states to singapore would send it up...
