Sony MDR-7520
The thing is I bet there are a few independent stores around Tokyo that have imports but I just havent been able to find any so far. I don't really like ordering products just to see if I like them and then return them, not sure why but it just seems a bit wasteful or dishonest, so that's out as...- Brainroom

Sony MDR-7520
Thanks for your reply. That's a good list and I appreciate bixby's response, thank you very much, but wanted others' input if you don't mind. As you can probably tell I'm not after 'pretty detailed', but 'as detailed as possible'. You mention HD800 imaging well - imaging is part of it but not...- Brainroom

Sony MDR-7520
Does anyone else have any idea about where the 7520's resolving power/detail sits compared to favourites like the K701, HD800 or even Stax headphones? Most reviews of the 7520s mention good detail but I've noticed a lot of the reviewers are just comparing to things like DT880s, much lower end...- Brainroom

Sony MDR-7520
Hi, thanks for your reply. When you say detail though are you talking just in terms of elevated high frequencies? This is not really what I mean by detail, I mean more like resolution, resolving power, how well the headphones can take away layers of distraction, and reproduce realistic space...- Brainroom

Sony MDR-7520
Thanks, this is good information. From the factory the K701s are definitely unnaturally bright, but when burned in/EQed/modded to be more flat, the high level of detail is retained. This means the detail they have is in terms of resolution, how realistically the headphones can recreate natural...- Brainroom

Sony MDR-7520
Hi, Does anyone know if the 7520s have more detail than the AKG K701s? Also, do the 7520s have less bass than the MDR 1Rs? I thought those had way too much bass when I auditioned them. Cheers!- Brainroom

Reversible AKG K701 bass mod
I noticed similar. Check out my previous post on the page before. This might be a hint that removing the tape from the port really lets the drivers breathe, and allows the notoriously long K701 burn-in process to happen quicker.- Brainroom

Reversible AKG K701 bass mod
This mod is definitely really effective, bringing the low frequencies up to reference levels (neutral), and as a few have already noticed even allowing a bit more detail and openess. This doesn't sound possible with the K701s as they've always been considered among the most detailed headphones...- Brainroom
