I don't suggest trying to convince people that whatever you get is better than what they have. They will deny it all the way until the day you give them the superior headphones for free.

I managed to get my Denon ah D2000 for 230$ and they sound great straight out of my ipod touch 4th gen. Worth looking into.

To add to my comment, these do not fall out, very easy to get put in. Plug 'n play if you will. If you're willing to go over budget I would seriously look into these.
