Android phones and USB DACs
Quote: I totally see your point. I don't plan on using this setup with anything that will cost more than $500. Right now I'm searching for that perfect portable over ear closed can and it will pretty much drive that and nothing else. Given the lack of options that fit this criteria, I doubt...- biocalves

Best Sound Card, DAC/Amp, Headphone combo for Gamer
Quote: Wow that is a great cheap solution. But it still leaves NuckinFutz's and my original question unanswered in that would games like Farcry 3 which uses software decoding benefit from a dedicated soundcard whether it be Xonar DX or a X-Fi Titanium HD? Also, do you not feel the...- biocalves

Android phones and USB DACs
Quote: Your mention of UHA6's DAC reminded me of a question I had earlier... If given a $250-$300 budget would I benefit more by pairing a DAC/Amp combo like a UHA6 to my S3 or a dedicated amp like the ALO Rx MkII?- biocalves

Seriously need help guys for getting my first 'real music' headphone
I bought the M50 blind based on recommendations here and after that went and tried the HD 25-1 II's in a store for a while and can honestly say that if given a choice for pure music quality then the HD's wins hands down. However, in the US the HD's are twice the price and I'm also pretty damn...- biocalves

Quote: Mad Lust's guide is mainly for consoles and there is a separate forum for the PC's. Generally it seems that the Creative X-Fi Titanium HD is regarded as the best soundcard for gaming on a PC even with Creative's newer lineup. There are arguments back and forth with this and...- biocalves

Android phones and USB DACs
I know Danba keeps a very nice list of all devices that work with the S3 on post#919 (didn't want to quote and clutter everything up) and I was wondering if anyone's done a comparison of enough of them to recommend a "best of" that will pair nicely with a AT&T S3 running stock JB. Best Sound Card, DAC/Amp, Headphone combo for Gamer
Quote: Actually I had the same question as NuckinFutz... I currently run my sound out of an Asrock Z77 Extreme4 which uses the Realtek ALC898 chip > Yahama mini system's receiver RX-E400 > HD 590. The only game that I play lately that requires some real positional accuracy is...- biocalves

Wish me luck - Hope i did ok
I recently received my M50 that I got from Amazon for $100 and i have to say so far I'm underwhelmed. I've had HD590's forever and maybe it's because I never had to pay for them (stole them from my brother ages ago) I don't think the quality of the sound I'm getting is good enough for me to...- biocalves

The Deals Thread (CLOSED! See the last post for the link to the new thread)
Amazon just dropped the price of the Audio Technica ATH-M50's to $104.41. Seems like a good enough deal for people to grab a pair. Link *Edited for link- biocalves

MM550's might be the fit for what he would need. The cups look a tad small but they fold down so small! What is the main difference between the 550 and the 550-X? the price gap is rather large on Amazon. I have not had a chance to try out the Momentum but had to strike it out due to the pack...- biocalves

Wow such quick responses! Thanks! From reading Tyll's review it would seem like a great choice but I am afraid of the portability issue. And I would have to get a carrying case as well. But this might be the best choice if I can't figure something else out. The MM450's have the problem in...- biocalves

Introduce a noob to DACs and amps.
Hey guys I am also quite the newbie and had some questions. I currently have my brother's very old handmedowns of HD590's. They still sound pretty good and I've replaced the pads. Currently I run from the onboard ALC898 -> Yamaha Mini System's RX-E400 -> HD590. I dabble in a variety of music...- biocalves

Hello everyone! My family have been a bunch of audiophiles for as long as I remember but I've never paid much attention to it until lately when I've noticed that I'm not enjoying the music as much as I used to and started looking around. Anyway, I'm trying to buy my father a set of cans that...- biocalves

Review: Skullcandy Mix Master – Duality
Considering Skullcandy is having a 50% off sale on their site right now with coupon code "redbull50" I pulled the trigger for a pair. I've been using an HD590 for quite some time now and have not used closed cans for a long time. Excited to try these for $160. I'm a bit disappointed that...- biocalves
