the smaller versions in the lower right look better in that they seem to be handwritten brush strokes, compared to the computer-generated versions that are predominantly shown. but to answer your question, as have already been done numerous times, they do indeed mean what you think they do.

what's your application? if you are using it as a 3-conductor substitute you may need to connect the fourth conductor to ground depending on the female connection you use it with, but otherwise you shouldn't have any issues....
