Wow.. just got these from DAHMART off of Amazon for $205 (refurbished but look brand new) and they sound amazingly well without an amp.  I've been using the HD25-1 ii for about a year and a half and my initial impressions of the Amperiors so far is that the sound is much more refined and cleaner...

Have you tried the dt1350? They are quite neutral and much more separation than the hd25-1.

yup skin oil, just wipe it after each use

I have both, I don't notice any improvements with them.

Make sure your ipod volume limit is not set too low and make sure your laptop system sound isn't lower than your headphone output sound setting.

amazon has the coiled one for 125.00 right now (it's sold from another store but fulfilled by amazon so no worries). 

I actually prefer my m50's for listening to trance/electronica. I use my HD25's for mixing or for portable use. 

Yes the eq setting increases the lower end without disturbing the upper frequencies. I have mine on turned off though, I think it's perfect.

Go for the hd-25 if you dj and listen to trance. The hd-25's have tight/ punchy bass which makes beat matching precise, I also dj and noticed a lot of cleaner transitions in my mixes. The bass is non overwhelming so you can still hear your mids and highs. The isolation is also insanely good to...
