Maggies love tubes. My 1.6s run with Atma-sphere M60 amps and Paul Speltz's zero autoformers at 4x - 16 ohms. The M60s are 90 Watts per channel into the 16 ohm load and sound glorious with NOS 6sn7s. Also, consider Van Alstine fet valves. Maggies love tubes.

Any thoughts about which model is best for headphones first, followed by tuner quality second? Distance reception is not an issue. All desired stations are strong and local. Also, might consider conversion to 400-x. Any thoughts about whether this improves the original sound? Alan

I was using the Hosfelt power upgrade on my Xcans, v2. Really improved the sound. After about 5 months, I burnt several resistors and the cans are dead. Can anyone recommend a repair shop? In the alternative, I could possibly have it fixed locally if I could get schematics with resistor...

The amp runs a lot hotter. I have not noticed that the Hossfelt CPU does. I upgraded to the JJs before I bought the PSU - I did not notice a difference in heat then. The combination really stepped up the Xcans, v2 to a new level. A wonderful upgrade. I just wonder about the heat it throws...

I agree with Beagle. Significant improvement with JJs and Hosfelt. But it runs even hotter.
