Could you elaborate a bit?

I've recently upgraded to a QES Labs HPBA-2 LE. I mainly use it with my HD 800 S, which to me it's a perfect match. With the HD 600 I get a very focused and detailed representation of the source, flat and balanced.

Late to the party, however I must agree with you: the HD800, imho, are the ones that translate well in critical mixing/mastering sessions. IME they are perfectly driven for this task by the QES Labs HPBA-2 balanced amp. This combo is hyper analytical, retains the last bit of micro detail...

If you plan to get the HD-800, I would suggest the Complement balanced cable from Double Helix. Quote: Another vote for the balanced system.   As a SS option, I feel to suggest the HPBA-2 from Qes Labs. Extremely fast on transient response, flat, true to the source with the hd800...

I think your 271 will be happier with some bigger combos..... some available on ebay: icon hdp pure class a portable amp   K271 Mk II are strong and balanced. Nice choice.

Why not? It could be a good candidate for driving high Z cans.
