But what makes a fixed volume dac out better though for home audio system? Cant u just set the volume on the cv2+ to level your system with ur needs and then forget about it, it comes down to the same thing and if anything thats actually more versatile than a fixed output!

I use the preout aswell, ive tried both many times and the preout always seemed more lively whereas the dac out is more sterile sounding! So from my understand i believe the preout goes through a different output stage.. i think everyone should use that for the full potential of this amazing...

I think you are referring to the midrange of the Sig DJ, which i personally do find is more forward then your average headphone (yet very clear), you do get used to it over time, but i find that amp/dac matching greatly helps, i used to run the Sig DJ with the Burson Virtuoso V2+ DAC/amp...

*update* so i got the extensions adapters and im finally able to use 6sn7 now! was well worth it. Got 4 pair to try out, really loving the Ken-Rad with Brimar 5r4gy so far, its clear, very clean bass, natural vocals and a sense of space ! i might do a comparision thread.. been switching...

no i dont have that type of sound without the Jensen, its really just a constant idle buzzing floor noise sound which is fairly noticeable and not your "normal" floor noise!

^^ your not suppose to run these tubes with the second gen!! The latest version runs 12v or 13v iirc through the drive tubes whereas anything that starts with 6 is a 6v tube which is not compatible.. I would assume your frying the tube now(not sure), i would turn off the amp and take them off...
