Upgrade from MS-1
I'd agree that it's worth looking into fixing the MS-1, especially if it just turns out to be a bad connection. I don't recommend the K701/2 personally. It's a good headphone and excels in some areas, but its sound signature doesn't suit me. I enjoy the MS-1 more, even though the K701/2...- 12thgear

Differences between Ultrasone HFI 580, 680, 780 - Please help
I never really liked the bass of the Senn 280. It extends low, but lacks impact and just sounds off to me. The HFI-680 has good bass impact and I'd say is pretty flat to the mid 30s.- 12thgear

I'm so bummed that I hate my new Ultrasone HFI 780's.
I have both. The HFI-680 is more accurate than the Pro 650, but the Pro 650 offers a little more detail and bigger soundstage. Quote:- 12thgear

HD25-1 ii
That's a good price for a good headphone, and great deals can happen for a time. I remember getting legitimate HD 25-1 ii headphones from Newegg.com for $99 a while ago. For some reason they were blowing them out. You're right about the model number listed on the Amazon page, but given...- 12thgear

I'm so bummed that I hate my new Ultrasone HFI 780's.
I skipped the HFI-780 myself due to concerns over recessed mids. I ended up getting the HFI-680 as my first Ultrasone, followed by the Pro 650 and Pro 750, since I got great deals on them. The HFI-680 are still my favorite, and I think you'd enjoy them much more than the 780, based on what...- 12thgear

Review: Fischer Audio FA-003 - a neutral champ!
My FA-003 finally arrived this morning. I had some concerns given all the hype, and how difficult these were to obtain, and the fact that I didn't purchase them through the usual channels. I steeled myself for a letdown. I have to say, these are very nice. Their presentation is pretty honest and...- 12thgear

Highest frequency you can hear?
Can make out 19kHz at sane volumes. I don't think that's too bad for someone in his mid 30s. I'm paranoid about losing my hearing, so I'm pretty good about using earplugs when at shows/sporting events/using power tools.- 12thgear

Upgrade from Sennheiser HD25-1 II
Quote: Ha, yeah, hearing and enjoyment is a subjective thing, IMO skewed by perception and physical differences. Comfort too! I found the HD 25-1 II more comfortable than the HFI-680. We can offer our recommendations, but it's important the OP has a chance to compare for himself. I...- 12thgear

Upgrade from Sennheiser HD25-1 II
Quote: Of the ones I've heard, my favorite Ultrasones are my HFI-680, and it's because I find them to be pretty neutral, especially compared to the HFI-780, Pro 750, and to a lesser degree, the Pro 650. I also used to have the HD 25-1 II, and found the HFI-680 to be more accurate. I liked...- 12thgear

Pictures of your computer rigs! Post them here!
Quote: I can vouch for that NEC. It's a value performer and calibrates really well. I think Dell and Viewsonic sourced the same panel for a couple of their 23" models, so you may even be able to find them under $300 on sale. The Dell, especially may be the way to go. I really like their...- 12thgear

Gaming headphones for the Xbox 360
I'm pretty sure you just hit the Xbox guide button and go to check settings and preferences. There should be a setting for voice, allowing you to route the chat output to the speakers as well. If you end up getting a Mixamp and an outboard mic (Zalman clip on, Labtec mod, etc) you can get...- 12thgear

Ultrasone S-Logic vs S-Logic Plus
I could be mistaken, but I thought the primary difference was one of packaging. That is, S-Logic Plus offers the benefits of S-Logic in a more compact design.- 12thgear

$150 speakers better than $600 headphones
I think that most good headphones should be able to outperform that speaker set. Maybe you're accustomed to the sound of the Z-2300. Try listening exclusively to your headphones for a week or so, then revisit your speakers before making any more big changes. I had a pair of Denon AH-D2000...- 12thgear
