STAX SRM-T1 tube hybrid amplifier for STAX NORMAL and PRO-BIAS headphones with CCS+ECC99 modification = T1m4, professionally carried out by STRITT-AUDIO Freiburg/Germany who replaced the anode resistors with CCS and the original tubes with stronger and more linear ECC99 tubes, including a complete overhaul of my SRM-T1 amplifier (new capacitors etc) plus installation of the 5kOhm safety resistors.
Excellent amplifier with excellent sound, drives all STAX PRO and NORMAL Bias KH ever produced without any problems, thanks to the modification also the Omegas SR-007 + SR-009 + X9000; Wonderful, silky sound for voices and instruments with a fine tube melting and thanks to the ECC99 tubes fed with constant current sources (CCS), also quite powerful if necessary for rock / pop etc! The new ECC99 tubes used in the modification are estimated to only have a playing time of 200 hours.
Characteristics of the SRM-T1m4 with CCS (quoted by STRITT-AUDIO): "My CCS modules replace the anode resistors that take on this task in the original state of the circuit. Each of these CCS represents a very large impedance in the audible range for humans, which means it differs significantly from the purely ohmic anode resistances. This significantly increases the usable output level of the amplifier. While the headroom increases, the distortions decrease. By using the constant current sources, more audible energy is available for the charge of the stators in the earspeakers, which ensures greater fidelity across the entire frequency band, but especially in the treble range at higher volumes, while standard amplifiers have long since run out of steam."
Rare T1m4 amplifier in black with looped-through RCA/Cinch inputs/outputs. Original 220/240V version (switchable to 100/117V) in the later, better C version.
Reason for selling: I have several AMPs for STAX, but now prefer other tube hybrid amplifiers, so the T1m4 can please another audio fan in its very good, fully functional condition!
