vgmusics

100+ Head-Fier
Off to yet another home :)
Still the prettiest I've seen.
I was actually thinking about trying to find a pair again.

I did sell your Empyrean too but wouldn't mind one again in the future.
1266, Empyrean, RAD-0, my favorites.
Since you have three, I would be interested in your thoughts on how consistent is the sound from unit to unit.

Man I still LOVE these phones....I recently got hifiman 1000se and focal clearMG to go with the others but the Rad0 still my overall favorite. They all sounded very similar the only slight variance was in the dynamics and this was so small it could have been the difference in the cable....so yes very consistent sound overall between all 3 pair

That's good to hear, I owned two RADs and they sounded pretty different in terms of frequency response, but the first one was one of the earliest models and suffered a driver failure. I've theorized that they tightened the driver membranes to prevent them from sticking to the magnets but in doing so lost some bass and moved away from the original intention to a more studio-neutral tuning, but that's just a theory. Rosson will allow custom driver tuning and I have considered this. I haven't actually owned an LCD-4 so I think that would be an interesting comparison.

Maybe we can figure out the artist that did the grills on the pair you just sold and get them some steady work ha.

I heard 1000se when I visited Wells Audio and that one was great too! I actually thought it must be Susvara until I was told it's not.
Focal was pretty fatiguing for me but on more easy-going electronics I'd like to give another shot.
Truly all the high end headphones offer their own experiences and I've loved most everything I've tried for different reasons. My DAC and amps are pretty different now so I'm interested to try everything again now lol.

I've kept only the 1266 as I think it does the best job in really evaluating the quality of electronics behind it but it is pretty hard to power. Once I'm done evaluating electronics I may consider other models. My only other headphone really now is a Modhouse Argon and for comfort reasons it's the one that gets the most headtime.

RAD definitely had a magical quality. But my head starts to hurt even thinking about it HA! I'm all over it if they make a RAD-1.

I've been trying JPS cables lately and I agree cables can make more of a difference than even some gear changes. I think the RAD is worth getting an adapter to try some more TOTL cables with it. At the very least, the Rosson cables have quite a lot of microphonics and uncomfortable if the cable taps against the table or something.

Hope you enjoy, whoever got it :)
