Hey guys! Selling my pair of Philphonrs. They're a pair of THX00 drivers put into a AD700X chassis. They're fairly better than thr THX00 and a lot more open. An extra cable and set of ZMF Seude Universal Pads will be included.

Why is it called Philphone?

AD700X + THX00 driver sounds like a lovely pairing. Where do you source your THX00 drivers and how much?
A lot of people know me by my real name, Phil, and these were mainly sold to friends and community members within the discord audio community for some time. I did not decide on a brand or a product name at the time so they were referred to as philphone for reasons you could probably already guess haha. I would rather not say where I source the drivers from but it is not easy, and I do not receive any sort of discount due to the small scale that I work with. Currently I have them priced at $600 shipped within the US (Worldwide shipping is available for slightly more), as it takes me a bit of work to get everything working together (buying the chassis, drivers, tuning, further modifications, etc), and I firmly believe that for what it can provide, that there is little competition even within the Fostex family of headphones. My goal was to have a lightweight, comfortable open back with good bass performance and an overall fun but mostly inoffensive presentation, and I am very happy to say that I have achieved that with this project. Paco's sale of this unit is the first and only aftermarket one so far, so whoever manages to snag them will be getting a killer deal (obviously a non-biased opinion). :)

You can read more about them here: https://www.audiodiscourse.com/2020/10/philphone-impressions.html (note that TH900 drivers were used in a previous prototype and its mention in the article was a mistake, they are they same drivers that I currently use for all newer units.)

Are they from full-compass or aliexpress?

What’s the difference between ATH AD500X vs ATH AD700X? If its just different driver then why pay the premium since youre replacing anyway.

Have you experienced THX00 with cups removed to make them open? How do they compare to Philphone if both using same pads?

There is no real difference between the 500x, 700x, and 900x chassis. The only reason why I use 700x specifically is because the badge on the grill is nicer. :)

I have experienced X00 with the cups removed but I can't say I liked it too much without doing any more modification and I've never done any extensive comparisons. Anyway, this is not exactly the right place to discuss so this will be my last public reply here, my apologies to Paco for derailing his thread.
I am also Phil. Philharmonic and now Philphone. If I were branding Id choose AudioPhil.
audioPhil is actually what I've been using as a nickname for a long time, and I was planning on making that my brand as well.
Ive been using Philips SHP9600 chassis for driver transplants. :)

Haha I've tried the same thing with SHP9500, that thing was surprisingly difficult to disassemble.

You said inquiries welcome. :)

I am not branding anything. Just regular hobbyist. Id love to own a product called Audiophil.

SHP9600 is a puzzle to take apart if you want to do more than just change drivers. SHP9600 design is improved but dont know about disassembly being easier than SHP9500.

Apologies to @PacoTaco if posts were unwelcome. Looks like a great headphone!
