For sale is a custom made GSX Mini without a volume pot, so it functions as a headphone power amp which completely bypasses the volume control. The unit is in perfect condition, I waited a few months for it and by the time it arrived, my system had gone through some major changes, making it unable to fit in anymore.

Please note that the lack of volume control is not a downgrade; in fact, it cost the same as a regular unit, and it allows those who want to use it with an external preamp to enjoy lower distortion than regular units due to the simplified signal chain.

Just wondering, what was the advantage of not having the volume pot? How did you have it set up? Thanks.

Technically it’s the knob. The pot is on the inside.

EDIT: Oh, wait! Is the potentiometer bypass’s entirely? You must be using a preamp or a DAC’s volume control.

Yes it’s bypassed entirely, I was planning on using it with an external preamp

I wanted to use it with my external preamp, not having the pot would help simplify the signal chain

Yes, this way you’d be able to enjoy the lossless volume control on the Hugo 2 without an extra analog attenuator in the chain to add distortion :)

In fact if the lack of volume control is a downside for you in the future, then maybe this isn’t the best option for you. It’s going to better fit those who need a headphone power amplifier without volume control specifically to avoid additional distortion or channel matching issues :)
