Hi,
I've fallen away from the audiophile world, and I've got a pair of Grado Alessandro MS Pro that seem to be doing the job so I'll keep them. With that said, I've owned this set of HP 1000 (HP2) for some time. The've been stored for several years, and I'd love to see them move on to someone who can appreciate them with an ear that is more critical than my own as they are amazing reference phones. I did plug them in to my Heed amp yesterday to confirm that they are wonderfully functional.
As with most HP 1000s, they are in good shape. Drivers are clean and perfect. Some of the red painted lettering has fallen away from both cups as has some of the black logo paint. There are some light micro-scratches there too. The pads are probably factory replacements, and are fine, but someone would do well to replace them again. The prior owner replaced the cable with some sort of audiophile equivalent that appears to be silver wound, and is terminated in 1/8th inch stereo phono. (The original cable was included when I bought these, and is again included in this sale as well.) I have a slightly battered Grado box, though it may not be original to this set. This set will be carefully packed with an outer box, and shipped per buyer's instruction and expense.
I have poked around a bit, and observed that sale of HP 1000 is uncommon, so I feel like my asking price is fair. I believe this is less than I paid for them about seven or eight years ago, when there were more changing hands. I don't want to go to the trouble of eBay, but given scarcity, I'm certain these would sell well at auction.
