The reason these headphones are in this condition is that I went on a long trip for 5 months and the box I stored them in was not sealed/packed properly. Unfortunately the results left them in the condition as can be seen in the pictures. I have tested both headphones out and sonically they appear to be fine. I do want to market these to anyone who is heavily into DIY/Modding as they need replacements that would be listed below. I can also include the original storage(was also in the box) of the dt990 and bag of the m50(though I am tempted to keep it since it somehow remained the same).
Price is $140+shipping CONUS OBO (more open to negotiating selling both together)
ATH M50 - Needs recabling as the termination is bent(likely from how it was in the box). I do have the 1/4 terminal but it won't go back on. The headband is super flaked(feels fine but you will get pleather or whatever in your hair). Earpads would be better served to be replaced, though serviceable in their current condition. The rest of the headphone actually feels great as the hard plastic held up. I also only really put about 50 hours on them as the darker sound signature is not my thing. I was able to plug it into a phone and test out the sound just fine.
DT990 600ohm - I have not opened up the drivers but I imagine that this would be a great fit for someone that would want to do their own dark beyer mod since those are practically 100% conversions outside of the drivers. I figure this might be a shot in the dark but maybe someone here would buy it with the mindset of modding. Here is what needs to be replaced: earpads, headband, and likely the outer shell. I tried to clean it many times but the green won't come off. These were my daily driver headphones before my trip and I did put time into them. Sonically it sounds just as it did in my memory. I have done side to side with my other headphones and I cannot tell of anything outstanding that appears to be any sign of possible damage.
Thank you for anyone considering these purchases and please do not banish me for this unintended sin that I have committed against these beautiful headphones.
Side note: I would be open to working something out as a trade+cash for a Grado Hemp or even a DT1990 Pro.
