This is one of the best stand mount speakers for the money because they are sold direct to customers as a DIY kit, which is meant to be assembled by the buyer. This saves costs that would have otherwise gone to assembly, finishing, and distribution through a dealer, and all the money is put toward the highest quality components like the drivers and crossover parts.

The cost for the kit of unassembled parts plus the unfinished wood cabinet (flat pack) is $709. You would have to add costs for tools to assemble (soldering iron, solder, glue, clamps, etc.) and the finishing (wood veneer, paint, or vinyl finish) plus the labor time and skills to successfully put this together. This pair features a beautiful white painted finish with beveled edges.
These were fully assembled and painted/finished by CSS Audio so you don't have to worry about anything being done incorrectly. In fact, this exact pair was featured on their official Instagram page before they shipped it out:

The assembled and finished version of the 1-TD used to cost $1749 through their website. It is no longer offered fully assembled/finished, but only as a DIY kit. The 1TD-X (same as 1TD with different tweeter and upgraded crossover parts) is still offered today assembled for $2349.

Reviewers have compared the sound of this speaker and the 1TD-X as being in the same league as much more expensive speakers like the Buchardt S400, Dynaudio Heritage Special, and Sonus Faber Electa Amator.
This has the best bass quality of any bookshelf/stand mount speaker I've ever heard. You don't need a subwoofer.
The condition is excellent on one speaker and the other speaker is good condition as it has a superficial blemish on the corner, which happened in shipping. But the function was totally unaffected. It is only blemished to the painted finish and no damage to the wood inside.
