This hybrid valve-SS amplifier works especially well with low impedance headphones like planars, and has a couple upgrades including the OPA2107 opamp which made a big difference. This is the later model (ver 4.0) with several SMD parts and also runs a little cooler than the older models. It works perfectly and has a silent background and is in perfect physical condition.
At first purchase, I wasn't too impressed with the sound from the stock config. After upgrading with the Mullard M8161 and especially the OPA2107 I thought, "This is a really good amplifier, much better than I thought it could ever be," but my ears no longer play well with headphones, full stop, so must sell it on.
I’ll offer it with 2 sets of valves, the M8161 or 6HM5, each highly rated by tube rollers.
The opamp and the Silmic bypass cap each use separate brown dog DIP-8 adapters so either can be changed or removed easily.

Elna Silmic II bypass cap on the opamp
Valves: Mullard M8161 & 6HM5 Yugoslavia
Bypass caps on the Vbe multiplier (for better transient response)
