UPDATE: status is now Sold
The AKG K-812 Studio is AKG's high end open back model. Finely constructed out of light metal, specially shaped leather earpads that fit over and behind your ear for optimal comfort. Anyone who loves the AKG house sound will adore these headphones. It doesn't get any better.
Unless you ask Solderdude, who reviewed these on his site and had some nitpicks. As usual, he addressed those nitpicks with his own designed inline filter, to fine tune the sound to perfection.
His conclusion:
The AKG K812 is an expensive headphone that is slightly lean and bright sounding.
It sounds very dynamic, open, clear and detailed and has ‘flagship’ qualities.
Is it the perfect AKG ? No… but it is the best sounding one in their line up (haven’t heard the K872 though). The sound quality is above that of the K7** series.
Comfort is very good as well as the build quality.
[...]
The K812 definitely becomes a more enjoyable headphone with a filter as well.
When one likes the elevated treble and hyperdetail as it is the filter is not needed.
In case one feels it sounds too ‘sharp’ on occasions the filter can certainly help.
Competition is there from Sennheiser (HD800S) and the more expensive planar headphones from HiFiman. Stax may also be an alternative.
In this offer you get the K-812 in it's original box, with all original accessories including the headphone stand, an extra short cable (pretty expensive, because of the lemo connector) and the Solderdude inline filter (appr. 40cm long cable).
Everything is in perfect as new condition. 650 EUR, negotiable. Only shipped inside the EU, to keep things simple with customs and payment.
