Good for LOUD listening

Posted

Pros: Comfortable, comes with a pouch.

Cons: open back

The HD238 seems like a very underrated headphone IMO. I haven't heard many people talking about these cans. Personally I think they are worth the $50 my dad paid for them. The sound signature is rather warm and dark, which is very pleasant to listen to at loud volumes IMO. The soundstage on these are not very big but for $50 I really can't complain. These are not so good with classical music but sounds very nice with EDM. The earpads on these don't seem to be replaceable but they are very soft and comfortable. The build feels a little cheap but they won't snap on my head or anything. I find these cans very comfortable, I wore these non-stop for 3 hours and I haven't experienced any bit...

Basshead IEMs

Posted

Pros: LOTS of accessories, metal housing, Monster Cable brand name.

Cons: Very hard to find the perfect fit, microphonic cable

This is my first time using a pair of decent IEMs, I have to say, I am not disappointed.    Fit : This is the turbine's worst aspect. I have rather small ear canals and used the smallest round tips it came with, it was perfectly fine, but the smallest tri-flange tip refused to go inside my ear canal and I am stuck with only one pair of usable tips.    Build: The turbine's build quality is not impressive but it is not bad either. I'd say its above average. The cable is thick, but not so thick that some one could accidentally choke you by pulling it. The Y section was ok and does what is its supposed to do, which is pretty much nothing. The housing is made some...

Not the best choice as an entry to higher end audio

Posted

Pros: Detachable cables, plastic seems tough, rugged case, GREAT soundstage, sexy

Cons: not the most comfortable cans ever, pads can get hot, was expecting more bass

I bought these as my entry to higher end audio on my birthday. I guess I should have bought the HFI-580 instead because they don't have as much bass I was expecting. (saving up for a PRO900 should fix that) The soundstage on these are great, I thought it was my mum calling me during the demo CD where they had some background speech playing. The cans do not clamp my head hard enough, and the size of my head is considered to be above average. I can feel the headband moving slightly when I'm moving my head. These cans are very sexy although they are pretty big. The cable included is gold plated and very thick, I'm sure I can use the wires to strangle someone if necessary (not that I plan...

Its for free, don't expect it to sound good

Posted

Pros: free, light, minimalistic, soft cable

Cons: lasts for about 7 month, not exactly mind blowing

These are not going to make you stand out in the crowd or have a non-audiophile teen laugh at your "lame, not by dr dre *insert audiophile headphone here ", but nor do they have eargasmic sound. You get what you paid for, which is nothing.

Worse than ibuds

Posted

Pros: remote control

Cons: The cable is too stiff, horrible sound quality, doesn't stay in the ear

Got them free with the HTC legend, the earphones are intended for speech only. ibuds would blow these away in terms of SQ. The cables are very stiff and uncomfortable for use
