Current: ###################### Sennheiser HD800 (my #1 headphone) Sennheiser HD650 (still great, but less used after I got the HD800s properly setup...) Sennheiser HD590 (the one that started it all, kept because I'm a sobbing sentimetal git) Sennheiser CX-300 (mobile division) Gone: ###################### Beyerdynamic T1 (not bad but... not amazing) HifiMan HE-500 (sounds good no doubt, but less comfortable than HD800 and the soundstage can't compete) Sony XB1000 (good entry level headphone for basshead, however the HD800 with a +2/3 dB bass boost shows it how's boss) Tried: ###################### AKG 701/702 (not bad... but not amazing. And not much meat on the bones either) Audeze LCD-2/3 (not bad... but not that comfortable after a couple of hours. And the HD800 beats it for soundstage) Beyerdynamic DT990 (Meh...) Denon D2000/5000/7000 (The D7000 is a good closed headphone but can't compete with the best open back ones) Grado PS1000 (Dire Straits is pretty amazing on this one, as is any rock-n-roll. But I need more than that!) Sennheiser 598 (best entry level headphone I know. BUY IT!) Ultrasone Pro900 (good basshead headphone, tighter than the XB1000 if that's the way you like it) |
