Swapped some tubes. Significant improvement for the CD player, marginal in the Vincent. I will start rolling tubes for the Darkvoice after the turn of the year also I guess. Player: Advance Acoustics MCD-203 modded with ECC803s tubes. Vincent Audio SV-236 MKII Speakers: Elac FS207 Anniversary edition. The Vincent amp is superior to anything I heard, yet I found their CD player had a weakness I couldn't compromise with. (Its most likely in the DAC) so I ended up with another model. The Elac speakers also got some weaknesses. Mainly in midrange detail and in the really lowest part of the bass. Not to be mistaken that they are able to deliver amazing pressure, yet that only when played loud. The treble is however very satisfying crisp yet smooth at the same time. I was not surprised to find that the Jet tweeters were found on one really high-end speakers. Even so, with a limited budget I decided to go for cans, and thats why I am here on this forum now. =) |

Death and Doom Metal mainly, most other mustic have too little information density. Neurosis & Third Moon good examples of what I like. Go to youtube and find "Thirdmoon - Unleash the Soul" & "Fallen Skin Dimension" and you might get an idea. But might play some few albums of other genres like classic and odd folk music (extremely rare but it happen). |
