Zool,
Or, if the DAC1 had USB, would I have kept it instead? 8~)
The flexibility factor of the Mini was weighed, but in the end it was about the sound. The Mini just sounded more balanced and less fatiguing to my ears, given the types of music I listen to (classic rock mostly). Tool (sober) with the DAC1 almost turned the tide though; near perfection.
Even now, with it in the box and an RA number secured, it's tough to actually ship it back out. It was that close. I'd keep both if at all possible because they each have their strong points.
Mentioned in another thread, but Sean at Zu was instrumental in quickly getting me an XLR terminated Mobius cable to add to the mix. This cable did indeed close the gap by making the Senns and Mini a better match. Zu's service is as awesome as their products.
I PM'd Nomad a few days ago, seems he's all set.
