system upgrade recommendation

I listen to mixed genre (from KPOP to Jazz to classical, all but metal) and currently have 3G iPod - ER-4P for portable setup, and use one of various sources (iPod, Toshiba 4900, Audigy2 PCMCIA) to a PIMETA to either ER-4P/S or HD580.

I am pretty darn happy with etys but not with HD580 (not as detailed, not as revealing, make me tired) and would like to upgrade Senns and possibly also the amp. My budget total is ~$550. I also have a SR-60, but it's only good for groovy stuff for short period of time. (hurt my ears)

Hearing about "sweet" mids of AKG501 made that my first choice, and a bit pricey CD3K is my second. If HD650 sounds similar to 580, i'd skip those. As for the amps, I am considering SuperMacro or SR-71 as they are verstile and since my PIMETA is unlistenable when I plug in etys (noise level is too high). SR-71 is supposed to be very dark between notes. Last upgrade would be ICs, possibly Earcandy mini to mini. Will I not hear much of improvement with any of these "upgrades?" Should I save the money and buy more music instead?

I'd appreciate your 2cents. Thanks.

Buy some more music. The upgrade "game" is a never-ending one, so better not to start. Besides, aren't kpop CDs like $10 a piece or something? That's cheap man.
