If I send a money order & it's lost in the mail, how do I get reimbursed?

Hi all. Need some info. I sent a money order out to an ebay vendor (the guy who was selling the HD650s) a few weeks ago, 12/24/04, and it has not reached him yet. What do I do? Should I just wait a little longer, or do something about it? I honestly don't even know how to get reimbursed. I have the receipt, but do I need anything else? Do I just go the post office and tell them what happened? What if they think I'm full of it? (Which I kinda doubt, I'm a reg. so they know me)

I trust the ebay vendor, since others on the board have successfully done business with him. I've been e-mailing him, and he says to just keep waiting and he'll notify me if it shows.

I'd pop in to the PO and ask what the score is regarding lost/undelivered MO's - Forewarned is forarmed after all... Then you'll know what to do if/when the time comes you deem it missing in action

If it is a U.S. Postal Money order, you can start your research here.

I would go down to the post office and ask for a refund. Since it's well over one week since you have purchased and sent the postal money order you will have to fill out a refund form which will be given to you by the postal clerk. If the postal money order was purchased less than a week ago you wouldn't have to fill out a refund form. Beware that you will be charged a processing fee (I think it's about $4, maybe less) for your refund. Also beware that you will only receive a refund if your money order hasn't been cashed in.

Once all that is done your refund request will be sent to the US postal processing center located in St. Louis Missouri. It will take nearly 3 weeks before the postal processing center will mail you a copy of your refund request and will inform you they are currently processing your request. It will be several more weeks of waiting after that before you receive refund if any.

Thanks guys. I guess I might as well wait a few more days just to see if it reaches the guy. If it doesn't within the next week or two, I'll go to the PO to get a refund. (It is a US Postal money order)

Crap, My zu mobius is gonna be here before my HD650. I might have to borrow some cash to get another pair since the refund'll probably take forever. I guess I'll have to use my coming ksc-35 as a home phone. Been using cheap sony buds, and I'm starting to forget what good sound is. I wonder how my NAD c542->sr-71->ksc-35 system will sound. Hope the signal isn't too loud either.

A package of mine (registered) just got lost in the mail. I called the post office and they say a package isn't officially considered lost until two weeks have past. So I just have to sit and wait before filing a claim.

Same exact thing I'm experiencing right now. Its gonna cost me $12 just to have them look at my paperwork.
