Great shot of the Cardas cable! can't wait to hear it. Say, is it just me or is the Cardas cable really ugly?

They look as good as they sound. I'm a bit suprised that the cable connectors aren't a "fuller" fit in the phones. Since cardas went to the trouble of having them made. No biggy, just a little weird.

They're f'ugly, but they sound great, a simple black like the standard grado cable would've been better IMHO,
still enjoying them though,

But the blue matches the the blue buttons "HD600".

Thanks for pointing that out lextek! They look a lot better now
The 1/4" plug is a serious piece of work. Cardas has some serious machining facilities at their disposal.

Yes the 1/4 phono plug is sweet looking, this is a classic Cardas
detail if you have ever seen the better Cardas ICs, they don't use locking RCA's ala WBT but have large friction fit RCA's that have
similar design appearance to 1/4 phono plug.

No...it's not just you, they are *really* ugly to me too!

I like to enjoy both aesthetics and performance in what I buy, one of the decisions that led me to the EarMax Pro...a lil' jewel, it is. It really pains me to think of linking my EMP and the HD600's with that smurfy color.

After I upgrade my source, I'll be looking next at new headphone cables. I will test drive both the Cardas & the StephanArt Equinox. According to Jude's review, the Equinox also blew away the stock cables and the Clou's. It also is a very good cable. If my poor ears do not detect much of a difference between the two, I most definitely will opt for the pretty one!

I was just poking fun, , I only care about the sound, but do notice the aesthetics of course. I'm most interested in the Equinox, but want to compare them directly to the Cardas at the headroom tour.

That's a geat nickname for this cable, Cardas Smurf Cable!

Personally I like the "flamboyant" cable treatments, I have some new Analysis Plus Solo Crystal ICs with clear jacket that exposes
checkerboard cable weave, looks cool.
I hear ya guys...and I am all for going for the best sound I can get...but that color

If I cannot discern a more than slight difference between the two cables, I'll go for the classy one!!! Wouldn't it be nice though, if Cardas decided to provide a nice marbled color pattern similar to that on the HD600's?? That kind of flamboyancy I could live with.

geez, I'd spray paint them.
I bet you could slip some Techflex over them and heat shrink the ends. If you really can't stand the color.

What's wrong with the Smurf cable?

IT'S CAROLINA BLUE! I think it's beautiful. You guys UCLA fans or something? (yes, I am living in the past)

Actually in hoops, I like most of the ACC teams, some more than others.

I totally agree with Jon Beilin - Paint 'em. Heat shrink some tubing overthem and then spreckle spray paint them. There are marble-like spray paints out there. Of course YMMV...

Oops, forgot to give Larry his perks on the "new name" for the Cardas wonder cable.

Nice job, D.A., on the pix too.
