GRATS Guru! I can't believe you got it back! I fear the Cmoy may never come back tho, my friend's cmoy is probably lying in the same exploded bomb vat as we speak. But no worries, you got the Meier back and that's the most impt one!

hehe That's probably because flannel is high flammable, and with untreated flannel a bit of a spark will make your luggage a very nice Molotov Cocktail inside a Class B luggage compartment (as if the FAA's "Class B" does what it's supposed to anyway... )

Now that I think about it, I'm really surprised they took the amps in the first place. Last year, I drove down to South Carolina to help my brother move into his dorm, then flew back home. Because I had driven down there, I forgot to take my little Swiss Army knife off my keychain. Somehow those are still no-fly items (the thought of doing anything with that thin 1 inch blade is pretty grisly) and they picked up on it when it went through X-ray (also my nail clipper set which they examined but were fine with since it has no dangerous sharp edges).

Instead of outright taking the knife, they asked if I wanted to run outside and leave it in my car, or if I wanted to check the bag instead of carrying it on (I didn't cause I had my iRiver and Etys in it and planned on using them). But they really gave me several chances to do ANYTHING with the knife other than carry it on. When I shrugged and told 'em it was a $5 knife and they could just toss it, they asked if I was sure and suggested some other things instead. I don't think they suggested mailing it to myself from the airport, but that might have been a viable option. Just surprised they took the amps without offering a chance to do something else with them.

Great news that you got the PCII back!!
Hopefully in a month time when they still haven't managed to find the designator on the Cbomb you'll get that back too.

so the tsa connoisseurs kept the self-built cmoy and returned the meier? the reason is obvious - sound quality.
so instead of fretting you should be proud of your soldering skills, and keep up the good work

jest aside, i'm glad you got at least one amp back - and as for the other one: in its final seconds it probably went LOUDER than any amp before...

This is the longest freaking thread I have ever seen, but I gotta make it a little longer.
Good thing all the places I go to are within driving distance. If I get famous.rich, then my love for great headphones/amps could be in jeopardy. This thread is pretty much self explanatory as to why I never trust airlines or their snide employees.
Can't think of anything else to rant about that doesn't include cursewords except that TSA is a "Son of a Vondruke"!

I'm not going to ever travel with my first CMoy. I'm keeping it for sentimental reasons. First amp I ever built too.
