Stax Default Cable

Thread Starter
How long is the cable that comes standard with Stax earspeakers? Is the offered extension cable that of the Basic/Classic line or the lower capitance Signature line (Stax only offers one model of extension cord in two lengths).

Thank you.

The standard cable is 2.5 meters - basically the same as the 9 foot cable that is found on most headphones. I don't know about the extension cable though, since I haven't tried it. The extension is supposed to be pretty good, but I have virtually no experience with most headphone extensions, so I don't know what "pretty good" means in terms of it's impact on sonic performance. Personally, I find the stock cable to be adequately long for most situations.

You know, I'm going to have to admit that I sense no real sound difference when using a Stax extension. It may be possible that this is due to the voltage level being used through the cable versus an extension on a dynamic can; like all Stax gear capacitance seems more important to the cans than resistance.

Go ahead and use an extension, I doubt it will make a large enough difference for you to hate your decision (based upon others' testimonials as well)

The newer Stax SRE-750 extension has very little impact on sound quality.
