Backwards phones

Hi,

My stereo, for some crazy reason, is backwards. The speakers are correct in terms of left and right. But the phone jack is wrong. When I plug my phones into the stereo jack the left/ right positioning is switched...so that I have to wear the left can on my right ear and the right can on my left ear.

I was wondering if wearing them like this ( as I must ) would still give me an accurate perception of the placement of instruments in the mix...or will everything now be slightly out?

Eg, if a sound is postioned front left, say 3 o'clock, in a proper set up....because I have to wear my cans back the front now....will that sound now appear more 9 o'clock back left?

Anyhoo, if you know what I mean, let me know.

Thanks very much

Are you sure it's your stereo and not your phones? Have you tried them on other equipment?
Anyway, what I'd do, honestly, is have someone make me an adapter that was wired the wrong way.
As to your question, I have no idea. It seems logical, though.

Yeah, the phones are fine...it's just a faulty stereo! Can you believe that...it must have been wired incorrectly at the factory. I've tried looking up the stereo ( it's a kenwood ) on the net to find out if anyone else has the prob...but I haven't come across anything yet.

And all this time I have suspected that my pin pointing skills in CZ have been a little off. But I never thought about my phones.

Is there anyway you can switch the cables? That would work better than just wearing the headphones backwards.

For some reason I have the same problem when playing UT2K4, so I switch the cables on my 580's if I'm wearing them
