Impendance of Ksc-55

I know this is a really newbish question...

but i wondered that the koss ksc-55 have a quite high impendance for headphones , 60ohm for portable non-amped use. I wondered will they sound unamped good enough and will the have enough volume?

i have a zen xtra and mainly used 30ohm headphones until now...

Impedance is not the end-all of volume with unamped cans.

For example, Shure E5c have an impedance of 110 ohms, yet are one of the most efficient headphones out there (as they have a sensitivity of 122dB/mW).

Look at both impedance and sensitivity when trying to determine how efficient a pair of cans can be.

The Koss KSC-35, -50, -55, -75 all sound great straight out of every portable I've listened to them with. They don't need an amp at all to sound good (although they do sound better amped).

I wondered this myself, it is kinda weird they are so high but are really easy to drive. My portable and computer can drive them perfect. Koss should hang on to this driver IMO its the best they have.

The 60ohm impedance shouldn't be a problem. My Karma drives my 75s very well.

They do. It's been in production since the mid-1980's and they use it in a lot of their headphones (PortaPro, SportaPro, KTX-Pro1, UR-40, as well as KSC-35, 50, 55, and 75).
