Is the Etymotic ER-6i Isolator Earphones comfortable and fit any ears?

I've been avoiding earphones for a while now, partly because it never fits my ear well and always fall off. How are these earphones? I don't wnat to buy them if they don't fit any ears perfectly. If they do, I might consider. Thanks.

They are comfortable and stay in the ear, but for canalphones it is best to try before you buy as everyones ears are different.

Why not the shure e3. Having tried the 6is, er4s, and shures e3s, the e3s were better sounding and more comfortable to my ears. Better than the 6is without a doubt, and fuller sounding that the very thin sounding er4.

Thanks for the suggestion there. Is it possible to buy the Shure E3C in Boston? I want to be able to try it on and see if I'll really like it. Thanks!

I would have to say half this forum would disagree with you on that. All I have heard about the ER6i's and the E3's were the 6i's were much better.

Mr.Aragorn so be sure to search this forum for more on this.

It is just a matter of sound preference. I personally think the 6i is much inferior to both the e3 and er4. The 6is and the e3 have about the same level of detail, but the 6is are just so thin sounding that make listening to music unenjoyable. If you prefer very detailed sound at the cost of musicality and fullness of sound then er4 is better (it is very thin sounding though), however if you want a musical full sound, with detail the e3s are better. whatever pair, buy it from a place with a return policy. Some hate the etys, others love them, and the same goes for shure canalphones some hate them some love them.

When I got my ER-6i's I remember being VERY under-whelmed. My E5c's, on the other hand ...

I haven't heard the E3c, but I can say from experience that the sound from the 6i's was rather thin and uninspiring.

Well it looks as if the world of canalphones still divides along the same lines. I haven't heard any of the Shures, but the Ety ER6 sound good for the money to me, and the ER4s sound better.

Not sure why Etymotic aren't offering the same range of foam sizes for the ER6i as for the ER6, but the 'new' foam they use for the ety.com and ER6i offerings is softer and more comfortable than the ER4/ER6 foams.

Given the 'personal fit' options from Shure and the choice of tri-flange/foam from Etymotic, there is a good chance than both the ER6i and/or E3 would be comfortable.

Probably not worth listening to any rumours on here that the Ety 6i only sounds good with the tri-flange tips and that the Shures don't sound good with anything

Yes, and the other half would say the opposite. So no winners there. (50/50, sorry I couldn't resist)

Like others have said, it's preference. If the er-6i was always thought to be better, why would anyone buy the e3? Cause one isn't necessarily better than the other. I'll say it again, Preference.
