They just need some burn-in time.

I got the AKG K271's for Xmas and while they sound great otherwise, this is one thing I noticed. Is this part of the "breaking in" process? I've only used for about 1.5 hours total since I got them.
Not normal check all your connections, what source and amp are you using?


EDIT: just read your source is "iRiver H320" that's the culprit IMO "crap in crap out" try a better source like Vinyl or CD and the K-271 will be fine.

Let it break in for 100 or 200 hours before considering an amp. What you're describing is normal for a new headphone. I guess the H320 should drive it fine. You're not at its upper output power limit, are you?
