Headphone recommendation (cheap and comfy)

Hello,
I needed to get some quick advice on a Headphone recommendation that can hopefully solve my families auditory woes. Here is the situation, my old pops doesn't hear so well and he is in the habit of blasting his little XM radio (hooked up to a logitech comp speaker set) loud enough so that he can hear it in the adjacent room while he works on the comp. Well its loud enough when he is in the room with it, so its pretty much unbearable for my mom when he tries to play it for the adjacent room. I have to say, having been home for a week I tend to agree. I figured I'd get him a cheap but decent set of cans and a headphone extension cable ( http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=240-050 ) so he could listen as loud as he wanted without driving the rest of the house crazy. Can anyone recommend a comfortable (he is average size in the noggin dept) inexpensive set of cans. They don't really have to be wonderful but I'd like to get the best I can for under 30 bucks. The type of music he listens to varies but lets just say he isn't of the hip hop generation Thanks for any help and happy holidays to all.
Scott
PS Thanks from a lurker for all the great info I've gleaned from this site in the past (currently loving my AV710 setup via Mr Radar's guide)

Thanks for the reply BowerR64. I was thinking closed or open cans, either would do. Definitely no buds/canal and I was hoping for the traditional style like the Koss KTXPro1 rather than the Koss KSC35 type. The KTXPro1 look like a strong contender. The volume control could be very handy for him to have right there. How would you rate the comfort level of these cans? Thanks again for the reply.

any thoughts on Sennheiser HD 202?

If you really need isolation i would get the hd202, if not go for some ktxpros or sumtin like that. The hd202 has crapy highs, honky mids and a muffled bass, but you really cant complain i mean they are only like $25.

Just wanted to write real quick that I went with the Koss KTXPro1s and all is well in the household. Everyone is much happier and all is finally quiet in the house. Thanks for all the help on this purchase

KOSS UR-20, 20 bucks, closed and for 20 bucks sound good.

i got mine off buy.com, but headroom sales them also

they are circumaural, well padded, "closed" by type, though at high volumes will leak a little sound(in about 2 foot radius) to be hearable.

edit-------
should read all posts, nm my post then.
