It has been years since I have joined HeadFi, and the cable wars are still raging (the "do they make a difference" one). I think I have an idea.
Let us assume:
1. There is no theory currently existing, in widespread use, to explain the differences is sound between decently constructed cables.
2. Audiophiles are hearing more than just the placebo effect. (Some HeadFier's have conducted DBT tests with themselves, and reported positive results)
If we assume these things, there is one logical conclusion. We must resort to Aristotelian empirical observation and inductive reasoning. This means studying the designs of the best cables on the market and combining their unique attributes (to their maximum extent) into a single cable design. An "Ubermench" cable. From this (using inductive reasoning), we may beable to see what these characterists have in common.
