Still looking for a DC power supply for 220V...

I've opened a thread a while back already, but my search isn't over yet. I'm looking for a power supply for use with European 220V to power a headphone amp (Porta Corda MKII, specifically). Can someone tell me whether this one will work well:

The thing is, I hear everyone say I should get a regulated one, and I don't know whether this is. In the specs it says "stabilisiert" (stabilized) -- is that the same thing as "regulated"? And what does "linear" mean? And what's a "switching" PS, anyway? I'm so confused... please, anyone, help me out!

If all else fails, I'll get that Mascot PS, but it's so friggin' expensive (~ € 40) that I'd rather look for alternatives first.

I don't believe that is a linear regulated PSU but a switching PSU. The Mascot PSU is ideally what you'd want.

Sorry I can't explain the difference between linear vs switching because I have no idea too but it has something to do with the way the power is converted.

So a switching PSU is NOT what I want? That alone is helpful already. Now if someone could explain the different sorts of PSUs... please?

That is correct, not because it won't work but that switching PSU are considered to be noisy, bad for hi-fi use.

There is only Switching and Linear Regulated. The Linear Regulated are usually fixed in voltage, bulky and heavy!

Thanks a lot. So that means I can pretty much forget about all PSUs which support multiple output voltages?

just saw a few regulated but switchable voltage psu. I use this one with my Porta Corda with good results.

here's a simple explanation of switched vs linear, regulated vs unregulated.
