Right Angle Connectors

I've noticed that very few Mini-RCA cables use a right angle connector on the mini side. Anyone know the reason for the this?

Do you lose any sound quality with a right angle or are they just harder to find and more expensive?

They're used mostly to save space in a travel bag. Figure that a quality straight connector will require about an inch or more of space clearance with a side mounted jack. Even at that there could be undue stress placed on the cable as it still will need to make a 90 degree turn.
