Canare Starquad Extension Cable - WOW!

Today, I made a 20ft headphone extension cable using the popular Canare Starquad cable with a Neutrik locking input jack and a Canare F16 plug.

No fancy techflex wraps or anything here, just pure cable and a plug and a jack.

And wow. I didn't know a 20ft extension cable could sound so nice.

The first few minites things were a bit rough, slightly smudged detail and all, but after about half an hour they're really singing.

Now I can finally listen to my K501s in my bed!

I made a 20' , 10' and a 5' for my father in law so that he can listen to his senn HD180 ( i cant remember which ones he has) in his recliner. I was impressed by the sound.

The only difference was that I used the Neutrik Plugs on the other end.

Yeah, I recently made a cable for my Senns (12') and I too couldn't believe the difference in sound. Your cable will probably change in sound as it burns in - mine took about 50 hours to finally settle in.

im using the canare F-12's or switchcraft 35hdnn plugs on my cables, does Neutrik make a mini plug? if so anyone got a link? i couldnt find one on markertek.

I perfer to use minis, as most of my componets i use my phones with are mini and i hate to use adapters.

Neutrik 1/8" plug

I think the Switchcrafts are a little nicer, but for the price this is great. The opening of the Neutrik is also a bit small and I don't think it will fit full sized starquad. Mini should fit fine though.

I honestly don't like any of the Neutrik plugs, or their RCA plugs for that matter. I think for the same price the Canare ones are quite a bit better looking and constructed as well.

Just my 0.01.

You could probably get someone here on head-fi who's ordering a bunch sometime soon to ship some for you or something.

We have these Neutrik plugs that came on these new monitor cables for my church's sound system (which are nothing more than a mono 1/4" plug on each end and some nice pro-grade audio cable in betweek). Sure, they're really nice and shiny looking, but they've got such a flimsy feel to them! The casings will not stay screwed in. Every time I plug in a monitor I have to screw the case part of the plug in. The switchcrafts seem a heck of a lot heavier duty, but they oxidize like crazy and get kind of cruddy-looking, although they still work fine.

Ahh! So much Neutrik bashing on this page! Lets not forget the glorious NP3C-B gold plated TRS and the NJ series locking jacks, not to mention the NC3MX/FX-HD XLR connectors used by many high end speaker cable companies!!!

i like canare too...
