Bedroom Setup - Page 2

Thnx audiomortis
Not nearly done with my set up. Like said I'm trying to upgrade to full 6.1 channel. Mucho $$$$$. Looking for mint used mcintosh! Always had soft spot for mcintosh and marantz as I grew up with them from my dad's system.

Regarding your turntable, isn't your receiver on a speaker too??? I would remove the receiver and turntable altogether off speakers totally. I was wondering if those speakers are horizontally placed? Are those vertical or horizontal standing speakers? If vertical, stand them up and you will have some room between two speakers atleast to place your receiver and turntable. Perhaps and temporarily wooden chopping board underneath those electronics. I don't want to sound anal, but dusting helps too for the needle and vinyl.

yeah, the dust is old news. it's all covered now.

I'll have to fiddle around with my set up some more I guess.... even though I barely ever get to listen to it these days.

5.1 in a small room is far from spectacular, especially if you're considering a low-end system. I can't understand the logic of buying 6 speakers when you (general use of "you") know can you barely afford a decent pair of bookshelf speaks. But I guess most people don't actually buy systems based on what they hear - because if they did all these cheapo surround-sound systems wouldn't exist.

BTW - if you want some really great speakers for real cheap - try out the NHT SB3s. Only downside is it takes some power to drive them, but that's their only real flaw - amazing for what they cost. Then go laugh at the Klipsch Pro Medias...

so how bout for my situation? thats what im wondering.. stereo bookshelves vs logitech z680 5.1 for movies. i doubt the "feel" of explosions of movies from the bookshelves gonna beat the logitechs..

so uh
5.1 analog out from soundcard, front channels to integrated amp/bookshelves, rear, sub & center to z680..possible? will that work out? i wonder if anybody did it before..

ask yourself, what's more important TO YOU? do you watch movies 90 percent of the time and listen to music 10 percent of the time? then maybe you really want surround (maybe). but if listening to music is important to you, stick with 2 speakers all the way

thing is, its sorta 50/50 kinda thing. i watch a lot of movies, say at least 1 a day, and when i'm not watching movies i'm listening to music..
