Anybody listened to the Panasonic RP-HDA100 headphones?

Saw them in the J&R catalog and got curious, but not much info around yet (even on the Panasonic website).

Thanks

they sound exceptionally interesting: here's the J&R link:
http://store.yahoo.com/jandr/pan-rphda100.html

and here's a big photograph: http://formenmedia.ign.com/media/new...dphonesbig.jpg

and not quite a review: http://formen.ign.com/news/30178.html

but it does make clear that the design is "away from the ear", i.e., like the AKG K1000. Also, it does indicate that the model # has changed from RP-HDA100 to RP-FDA100. Although availability is said to be fall, J&R indicate "low stock"--wonder if that really means "no stock."

Ah-hah, that would explain...

why nobody seems to have listened to them yet. Vapor-wear.

I asked Todd about them. He intends to test them when he can get hold of a set. Headroom is a Panasonic dealer.

Guess I will have to remain content with my K1000s for now.

Kind of takes the "open" phone concept to a new level. Check out those funky earpads-- there are gaps.

I say we dub this new design the "semi-circumaural" headphone.

Also potentially cool: it's a two-way design with two drivers-- one for highs, one for lows. Gurus-- is that a new concept in headphone design? Explains their expanded dynamic range to accomodate DVD Audio/SACD I imagine.

Very interesting. I look forward to an inmate review.

Actually, that looks a lot like sony's "made-for-home-theater" MDR-F1s (their top-of-the-line open headphone). Those are regarded as earbleeds, first class.
