Good songs to wake up to.

Hey I'm looking for some music that has a Waking Up theme. You see next year at our youth group mission trip I have the pleasure of being wake up call guy. It's our tradition to use the Beatles song Good Morning Good Morning to wake up but next year I want some more songs.

Could any of you suggest some good songs that have such a theme?

My favorite is Deep Blue Something: Home - Breakfast At Tiffany's

Hows about... Rage Agasint The Machine - Wake Up Sure gets you up though... especially at a nice high volume...

I guess "Wake Up, Make Love To Me" by Ian Drury and the Blockheads wouldn't really work.

How about "Get Up, Stand Up" by Bob Marley? ( I think that's what it's called)

This is weird, but I'm listening for the first time in many, many years to Carol KIng's "Tapestry" album (on SACD) and just as I sent my last post, track 5...a song called "Beautiful" came on.

It starts out "You've got to get up every morning with a smile on your face and show the world all the love in your heart".

Now that could work.

And if you're really desperate, there's always "Wake Me Up Before You Go Go" by Wham. Yuck.

A buddy, who was in the Navy, said at one base they got up every morning with the National Antheme over the PA System. Seems one morning, someone comendeered the PA, and played a version of the National Antheme by a Mr. J. Hendrix. Seems it didn't go over well with the brass.

Is this a church group? There is a kids album called Bullfrogs and Butterflies, that was put out by Barry McGuire and Maranatha Music in the late '70s. There is an increadibly cheerful (to the point of annoying) song called Goodmorning-Goodmorning-Goodmorning! that might be good. Even has a bugle call/revely in it.

And then there's the clocks at the beginning of Pink Floyd's "Money".

Sublime - What I Got

"Early in the morning, risin' to the street
Light me up that cigarette and I strap shoes on my feet
Got to find a reason, a reason things went wrong
Got to find a reason why my money's all gone
But I got a dalmatian and I can still get high
I can play the guitar like a mother f'in riot..."

My vote's for the End of the Century album.

"Get Up Stand Up" is about civil and human rights, not beds. Sheesh.

Exactly. I believe people should have the right to sleep in if they want to.

Semantics. Sheesh.

I really like the idea of the clocks from Money.....

I'd recommend All Along The Watchtower by Jimi Hendrix. I don't know why exactly, but that is a happy song that always makes me feel.....well......."happy".........and the lyrics are great, too.

So what if it was a Dylan song originally......

Right album, wrong song . It's from the appropriately-titled "Time," not "Money."

My choice would be Cat Stevens' "Morning Has Broken." Maybe not quite the loudest wakeup call, but a pleasant way to start the day!
