Looking for Senn HD-600 cable plugs?

Hi,
I'd like to make some DIY silver headphone cables for my HD-600s but need to find some solderable plugs for the headphone end of the cables. They are very proprietary and look like this:
I've contacted Sennheiser and they sell these ends pigtailed, but I'd rather just buy the conectors to connect directly to my silver cables.
I wonder where Clou and Cardas get these connectors from?

I have never been able to find a source for anything that would work like these. I suspect the only alternative is to use the ones from Sennheiser and splice into them.

How much does Sennheiser charge for the pigtailed ones?

I would probably like to buy a pair to make a DIY cable (without having to cut the plugs off my stock cable). I also would like to make a DIY silver cable. I would probably use some 32 guage teflon coated silver like the Chris Venhaus IC's. I bet this cable would compete well with the more expensive commercial versions. The other advantage is that you could make it to any length desired.

Hey Merc,

off topic but, just wanted to let you know i bought a Grado RA-1 for my Senn 580's... I need an interconnect now!

Any recommendations?

This subject has come up every few months for the last year or so here and at Headwize. As far as I know no one has been able to source these plugs. But here are a couple of thoughts that may yield some results.

Try emailing or calling James at Stefan AudioArt and see if you can get some plugs from him. He is probably getting these direct from Sennheiser since he used to work for them. Maybe he won't send any if he thinks it would cut into his business but it never hurts to ask.

Now that Cardas is making a HD600 cable and making their own connector for it maybe you can source these direct from Cardas. Okay, maybe not yet since it is not been officially released but maybe in the near future. Since Cardas sells all manor of connectors that they use in their product line why wouldn't they make this connector available to to the public also?

The guy from stefan AudioArt told me that silver cables would not be such a good idea, because of the whole "in ear" feeling. I later asked him about something in continous cast copper, and he said he had experimented with better sounding cables than the audioart, but they were just too stiff to be comfortable. If it were up to me, I'd do something in continous cast.
